Our Growing Family

Haha! You totally thought I was going to announce a pregnancy. Sucker.

Yesterday afternoon we adopted two kitties - Mort and Mimi.  Mimi is the grey and white cat on the left and she turned 4 months old yesterday. Mort is all black and is two and a half months old. Mimi has markings that look like a grey and white cow and her shelter paperwork identified her as "Cow Kitty". We chose her because she was aggressively quirky, immediately dug her head into my purse and instead of running from our child, seemed very curious about her. We chose Mort because we wanted a boy and he was the only one who seemed like he could keep up with Mimi. He also spent a hilarious amount of time sniffing all three of our feet.

They slept all night in our upstairs bathroom, which we converted into a kitty room. We unearthed our litter box, the scratching post that Maurice never used, and baskets filled with blankets for beds. They snuggled and spooned with each other all night and slept quietly in the bathroom until 7am. They spent all day today following Edie around, hanging out on her bed while she played with her babies, and freaking out and running laps around the dining room table. They love each other and even better, they appear to be unphased by 3 year olds.

Sounds like a couple of weirdos who will fit right in over there!

Ohhhhhhh kitties! I can't wait to meet them! I love how Mort is smiling in his sleep in that photo. So awesome that you got two so they've got company.

I enjoyed meeting them in person today...they are truly adorable; not Edie adorable, but still...
